Topgolf Raises $17,000 for Movember

Associates at seven Topgolf sites don moustaches to raise funds, awareness for men’s health

DALLAS – Jan. 2, 2013 – Golf entertainment leader Topgolf is helping change the face of men’s health with its recent $17,197 donation to Movember, the global non-profit organization that gets men to grow and women to support the moustache during November to raise awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.

Beginning Nov. 1, Topgolf challenged guests and associates from its seven U.S. and U.K. locations to raise funds for Movember with the offer to match the highest-contributing site. To raise funds, men (known as Mo Bros) grew moustaches while female participants (nicknamed Mo Sistas) showed support by recruiting donors and participants.

Topgolf’s sites raised a total of $13,997 during the month. The team in Allen, Texas came in first place by raising $3,200, boosting the total 2012 Topgolf Flash Your Stache Challenge donation to $17,197.

“Topgolf prides itself on being a people-centric organization, so charitable giving is a key component of our business,” said Topgolf Director of Strategic Partnerships Rodney Ferrell. “The men’s health cause is especially important to the Topgolf family because nearly 70 percent of our guests are male. Aligning Topgolf’s fundraising goals with Movember was a natural fit. Not to mention, our associates and guests had a lot of fun sporting some wacky moustaches.”

To celebrate the fundraiser’s success, Topgolf threw an End of Movember Shaving Party at each location. The company invited professional barbers to attend the parties and offer a fresh, clean shave to participants who had grown out their facial hair.

“The Movember party was a heck of a good time,” said Topgolf Allen General Manager Bob Dodson. “The barbers shaved everything from bushy Tom Selleck moustaches to ones that looked like they belonged on the Monopoly man. Everyone was really pumped not only to help with such a great cause but to have fun while doing it. The Topgolf sites got pretty competitive, so we’re already plotting our 2013 Movember strategy.”

One in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and one in 270 men will be diagnosed with testicular cancer, according to Movember. To learn more about the 2012 Topgolf Flash Your Stache Challenge, visit www.topgolf.com/stache.
