Topgolf Offering Free Practice to KidSwing Golfers

Mar 28, 2013
Registered golfers can play Topgolf at no cost twice a week in May and June

DALLAS – March 28, 2013 – Golf entertainment leader Topgolf today announced its 2013 sponsorship of KidSwing, a nine-hole, best-ball scramble for players ages 7-18 benefiting Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC). As part of its sponsorship agreement, Topgolf is offering registered KidSwing participants a free lifetime membership, two soda coupons and the ability to practice for free twice a week during May and June.

To qualify for complimentary Topgolf practice, players must register for KidSwing at www.KidSwing.org by April 25 and agree to raise $100 for TSRHC. Topgolf practice dates are: May 21, 25 and 28 and June 1, 4, 8, 11 and 15. All Tuesday practice times are from 3-5 p.m., and all Saturday practice times are from 9-11 a.m.

For each practice session KidSwing golfers attend, they will be entered into a drawing to win one of three $100 sponsorships toward their benchmark prize level and the chance to be an official Topgolf player at KidSwing.

“Topgolf is thrilled to partner with KidSwing to benefit Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children,” said Topgolf Director of Strategic Partnerships Rodney Ferrell. “We also hope that these practice sessions will inspire a love for the game of golf among the kids who participate.”

In addition to the practice sessions, Topgolf will be providing prizes for the KidSwing tournament winners. KidSwing tournaments will take place June 17 in Dallas at Brookhaven Country Club, June 24 in McKinney at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club and July 15 in Trophy Club at Trophy Club Country Club.

“TSRHC is excited to partner with Topgolf, and we’re incredibly grateful that they have offered KidSwing participants free practice opportunities on dates leading up to KidSwing tournaments,” said Stephanie Brigger, vice president of development at TSRHC. “Golf is a sport that is well adapted to patients and kids of all golfing abilities. Our players are looking forward to improving their golf game through the practice sessions at Topgolf.”

About KidSwing
KidSwing is a nine-hole, best-ball scramble for players ages 7 to 18 at all levels of golfing ability. The original KidSwing golf tournament was founded in 2003 by former Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) patient, Ben Sater of Plano and his family. Ben founded KidSwing as a way to give back to TSRHC for the care he received. KidSwing is about kids helping kids, and while there is no entry fee to play, kids are asked to raise at least $100 for the patients of TSRHC. To date, KidSwing players have raised more than $1.4 million for TSRHC. Currently, three KidSwing tournaments are played in the Dallas-Fort Worth area each year: KidSwing Dallas, KidSwing McKinney and KidSwing Trophy Club.
