AUSTIN, TEXAS – April 15, 2013 – Austin’s newest golf entertainment complex Topgolf  today announced its location in The Domain will open to the public Tuesday, May 7, following an exclusive, invite-only VIP grand opening party on May 6. The 65,000-square-foot facility that features 102 hitting bays, a rooftop terrace and full-service restaurant, will soon become the city’s largest sports bar.

The VIP grand opening party will showcase Topgolf’s premium food and drinks and entertainment from DJ Don Vaughn, Cosmopolitan’s “Bachelor of the Year” in Texas. Special appearances will also be made by the University of Texas Cheer and Pom Squads, UT Golf Coach John Fields and beloved UT mascot Bevo. The first 50 “Austinites” to purchase a TopGolf membership received invitations to the party with five guests.

Pre-opening deals for membership purchases will be available until May 6, including: a waived $100 initiation fee for Platinum Membership; $25 off the $100 annual Gold Membership; and a $10 bonus coupon when a $40 value is added to a membership.*

“The Topgolf concept is something completely novel for the city of Austin, and we offer entertainment for all ages and skill levels,” said General Manager Brad Spofford. “I think nearby residents are as excited as we are to open the doors – we’ve already booked more than 100 private parties and corporate events for the coming year.” 

Topgolf modernizes the traditional driving range experience with six competitive games and advanced technology to track every player’s shots. Constructed by ARCO/Murray, the three-level facility includes: climate-controlled hitting bays, 2,900 square feet of event space, an extensive food and beverage menu, and more than 200 high-definition flat-screen TVs. This summer, Topgolf Austin will host golf tournaments, golf clinics for children and live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

The company hired approximately 325 people to staff the site, which will be Topgolf’s ninth location globally. Topgolf estimates that it will serve 350,000 visitors in Austin its first year of operation, with a 10-year economic impact exceeding $50 million.
