City of Roseville is Home to First Topgolf Location in Northern California

Mar 21, 2014
Golf entertainment company will create 450 jobs and provide estimated $264.5 million economic output over a 10-year period

ROSEVILLE, Calif. – March 21, 2014 – The City of Roseville and global golf entertainment leader Topgolf International, Inc. today announced that Topgolf has selected Roseville for its first Northern California location. With the approval of the City of Roseville, Topgolf plans to begin construction on the 65,000-square-foot facility this fall. The complex is expected to open to the public in spring 2015.

The new golf entertainment facility will be located on a portion of the 59-acre parcel of land purchased by Bayside Church last summer at the intersection of Blue Oaks Boulevard and Washington Boulevard, adjacent to Highway 65.

“Roseville is an ideal place for our first Northern California location,” said Topgolf Chief Development Officer Randy Starr. “It’s a perfect location with highway visibility, making it easily accessible to Roseville’s vibrant and growing community of residents and businesses. We have a fantastic neighbor in Bayside Church, and the City of Roseville has also been a great partner. We look forward to making Topgolf Roseville a reality.”

The new three-level location – constructed by ARCO/Murray – will include up to 2,900 square feet of private event space and 102 climate-controlled hitting bays that can host up to six players at one time. Starr estimates that Topgolf Roseville will serve approximately 450,000 visitors in its first year of operation. Nearly half of all Topgolf guests describe themselves as “non-golfers.”

“Topgolf is anything but a traditional driving range,” said Chris Robles, economic development director at City of Roseville. “We think the concept is perfectly suited for our residents and expect Topgolf to be extremely popular. The venue offers something for everyone, and it is a great example of the varied entertainment venues we seek to provide for Roseville residents and our neighboring communities.”

“When we purchased the land last year, we knew we wouldn’t develop the entire site for the church campus and began the process of finding the right neighbors,” said John Stewart, director of real estate for Bayside Church, Topgolf’s landlord in Roseville. “Topgolf is a family friendly organization, which helps attract newcomers, especially youth, to golf, and we expect they will be a great neighbor for us.”

Founded in 2000, Topgolf welcomed its 10 millionth visitor in history in November. Topgolf’s economic impact in its local communities is also remarkable, creating hundreds of jobs at each location and serving as an anchor tenant that tends to attract other popular franchises to the area. In fact, its economic output in the Roseville area is expected to exceed $264.5 million over a 10-year-period, according to a third-party audit.
