Topgolf is Aiming for Salt Lake City

Mar 18, 2015
The global golf entertainment company will break ground this spring in Midvale

SALT LAKE CITY – March 18, 2015 – Golf entertainment leader Topgolf International, Inc. today officially unveiled Salt Lake City as its first location planned in the state of Utah. Topgolf® will begin construction on the 65,000-square-foot facility this spring; the venue is expected to open to the public in early 2016.

Topgolf Salt Lake City will be located in Midvale at the northwest corner of Bingham Junction Boulevard and Jordan River Boulevard (7200 S). The location is approximately 12 minutes southwest of downtown Salt Lake City. Topgolf is leasing 12 acres from

Wadsworth Development Group as part of its 35-acre RiverWalk mixed-use development consisting of Class A office space, retail and residential housing.

Topgolf is the only entertainment center of its kind, offering competitive golfing games for all ages and skill levels and advanced technology to track players’ shots. Those who just want to relax can enjoy the upscale, laid-back ambiance that boasts more than 230 high-definition flat-screen TVs and an extensive food and beverage menu.

“Salt Lake City is one of the fastest-growing communities in the United States both for job growth and for our target demographic,” said Topgolf Vice President of Real Estate Zach Shor. “This is a community that appreciates outdoor recreation, and we think residents will embrace having another option for entertainment, dining and golf. Topgolf is excited about the location we selected as it will offer fantastic visibility and access from most of Salt Lake City.”

The new three-level location will include up to 3,000 square feet of private event space and 102 climate-controlled hitting bays that can host up to six players at one time. Shor estimates that Topgolf Salt Lake City will serve approximately 450,000 visitors in its first year of operation. Nearly half of all Topgolf guests describe themselves as “non-golfers.”

“Midvale City is proud to announce that Topgolf has chosen to locate their facility in Midvale, Utah, a city ‘In the Middle of Everything,’” said Midvale City Mayor Jo Ann Seghini. “The business community that surrounds their location represents several international corporations, and they are excited to have a center that can be used for conferences, fine-dining experiences and games for children and adults. Topgolf will serve the community with top-quality facilities and entertainment.”

Topgolf’s economic impact in its local communities is remarkable, creating 450 full- and part-time jobs at each location and serving as an anchor tenant that tends to attract other popular franchises to the area. In fact, its economic output in Salt Lake City alone is expected to exceed $264.5 million over a 10-year-period, according to a third-party audit.
